case study: xaar cleanroom facility, cambridge
cleanroom installation - bespoke partitioning - doors
the brief
In late 2009, Xarr, a world-class provider of industrial inkjet printheads, challenged Norwood to design and deliver a truly unique 500m2 clean room, incorporating critical for precision printhead manufacturing. The facility needed to be developed directly alongside an operational clean room, with a minimum of disruption.
Norwood’s approach
By taking an active interest in Xaar’s business, Norwood were able to add value and innovation from the conceptualization phase. Working in partnership with Holland Contracts Norwood developed a detailed plan of Xaar’s key strategic requirements. As Norwood has full-production manufacturing and fabrication facilities in the UK, the modular clean room was manufactured and pre-constructed off-site, incorporating integral flush-mounted utilities which were installed with the minimum of disruption on-site, thereby delivering innovation, quality and allowing Xaar to continue to operate without interruption.
the client’s perspective
Having previously had a less than desirable experience with a competitor clean room manufacturer in the past, Rob Welford, Xaar’s Manufacturing Group Engineering Manager summed it up by saying: “the practical and hands-on approach given from day one by both Norwood and Holland Contracts gave Xaar high confidence. The project was completed on-time and to budget, providing Xaar with a world class facility we are very proud of.”
