METHOD OF BUILD

Shieldoor Installation

Erection sequence

1)
Remove packaging from the door leaf and frame and check for damage.

2)
All 3 sided door frames are fitted with travel (spacer) bars at the base. This should be removed prior to installation.

3)
Offer frame into structural opening.

4)
Plumb frame and wedge into position (equal gap to each side) ensuring the head member is level.

5)
Drill fixing hole for the top and bottom fixing position in each vertical member.

6)
Insert 4 fixings and tighten until frame is held in position, re-check and adjust as necessary using shims/spacers between frame and brickwork and then fully tighten fixings. Do not over tighten as this may distort the frame.

7)
Hang the door and ensure it is hanging plumb. Gaps are nominal 3mm hinge side - 4mm lock side - 3mm at head.

8)
Drill through remainder of fixing holes in frame and insert fixings.
Generally 4 fixings per verticle section are provided, oversize frames will include additional fixings and double door frames will include 1 fixing in the head member.

9)
Fix ironmongery as required, doors will be factory prepared for morticed items such as locks but surface mounted items including door closers and panic bolts will require site drilling and securing with self tapping screws or machine screws.

10)
Mastic seal joints between structural opening and frame (mastic not supplied).
Note : Intumescent mastic should be used on 'fire rated' doorsets.

11)
Plastic filler plugs are provided to fit fixing point holes (concealed fixings).

12)
Check door and ironmongery to ensure easy and efficient operation.
