The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts was designed by Foster & Partners and commissioned by main contractor Kier Eastern. The brief was to replace 30-year-old partitioning with a system capable of fitting in with a visually aesthetic solution which was in-keeping with the existing architectural style.

The demands of supplying architectural partitioning solutions within a visual arts centre environment meant that only the highest standards of design and functionality would be acceptable – especially when delivering to the standards of Norman Foster and Kier. From the start of the design phase, Norwood worked in partnership to create unique modular steel & glass partitions throughout the building, which were fitted on-site Norwood fitters. Bespoke doorsets provided the ultimate finish. Norwood provided additional value to the Sainsbury project by offering a complete service, commencing from the design phase.

The Norwood approach was to ensure that functionality and aesthetics worked together to provide consistency and innovation where it mattered most. Attention to detail was paramount to the success of installing bespoke partitions within the creative surroundings of the Centre for Visual Arts, and Norwood excelled at every stage of the project – from the design through to installation.
