Modular Teaching Pods
We have developed numerous design-led partition solutions for the education industry, including our acoustically sealed teaching pod area within the iconic Roundhouse grade II listed building at Derby College. The project won the RICS ‘Project of the Year’ award for the overall build.
The success of our projects in the sector inspired the launch of the Norwood Podsolve product, developed in conjunction with Interserve. The Podsolve is a modulated pod that can be demounted and remodeled to suit the current learning requirements. In addition, the system provides high acoustic properties and consists of several accessories such as acoustic baffles, air-flow control, integrated services, and sockets within glazed panels. The Podsolve has been widely recognised for its ability to be remodeled also after installation. For example, this flexible solution allowed Leeds East Academy to easily adapt their spaces to accommodate the growing number of pupils, few years after we had installed the pods.

Derby College, The Roundhouse, Demountable Pods
Having a strong reputation for developing innovative design-led partitioning solutions, Norwood was given the challenge of creating an acoustically sealed teaching pod areas within the iconic Round House grade II listed building at Derby College. The project was commissioned in consultation with Bowmer & Kirkland and Maber Architects.
We demonstrated our ability to introduce fully demountable and relocatable teaching pods into a grade II listed building, with the benefits of their obvious stunning visual and acoustic appeal. Whilst the solution emphasises the importance of using a design-led partition solution partner, the on-site manufacturing facilitates at Norwood allowed delivery of finished materials direct to site, thereby minimising on-site disruption. Furthermore, the incorporation of electrical and mechanical equipment within the partition design was significant to the overall project finish.
Working with architects, main contractors and end-users, we deliver bespoke and performance-driven cleanroom systems, tailored to the specific needs of each client.
